Michael Silverstein was awarded the APAGS/Psi Chi Junior Scientist Fellowship to fund his research into risk factors for and the etiology of PTSD in September 2018.
Michael Silverstein was awarded the Delaware Valley Mensa Foundation Scholarship to fund his work with at risk youth.
Michael Silverstein's was selected as a Student Poster Award Finalist for his presentation "Parents and Children in the Aftermath of Acute Trauma: Understanding the Relationship between Parent PTSS, Parent-Child Interactions, and Child PTSS" at the 2018 annual meeting of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies in Washington, DC.
2017
Mark McCurdy received the National Research Service Award (NRSA) predoctoral fellowship (F31) from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) to support his dissertation research entitled, Social Competence in Youth with Neurofibromatosis Type 1. With the support of this award, Mark’s research will examine underlying neuropsychological and family-systems factors that contribute to social adjustment difficulties in this vulnerable population.
Aimee Hildenbrand was awarded the Drexel University Department of Psychology Exceptional Student Award in recognition of her exceptional achievements regarding original research, peer-reviewed contributions to the literature, and outstanding service to the department and profession.
2016
Aimee Hildenbrand received the first place Poster Award at the 2016 annual meeting of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies in Dallas, Texas.
Mark McCurdy's research was recognized by Psi Chi at the 2016 APA Convention, where he received the APA Convention Society Research Award for his project, Pre-visit screening items for identifying autism spectrum disorder in a mixed clinical sample. This research was conducted in collaboration with his Dr. Daly and research partners at the Kennedy Krieger Institute.
Elizabeth Nicholls received a Doctoral Research Excellence Award from Drexel University in May 2016.
2015
Mark McCurdy was awarded the Virginia McCorkle Scholarship Award by the American Psychosocial Oncology Society (APOS) to support his attendance at the World Congress of Psycho-Oncology in Washington, DC. Mark will be presenting results from a qualitative study examining factors influencing the feasibility of a computer-based cognitive training program for survivors of childhood brain tumor.
